A licensed certifying practitioner determines whether medical cannabis is appropriate for you. Check the current OCM certification process and the provider’s appointment requirements. A certification can enable medical-program purchases at registered medical dispensaries. Leafology separately sells adult-use products; ask staff about any current patient offer on that menu.
Step 1: Book the telehealth consultation
New York has simplified the medical cannabis certification process. You register on Leafwell's platform, answer intake questions about your health history, and connect with a New York licensed healthcare provider by video. The Leafwell visit needs no in person appointment.
Bring the basics to the call: a photo ID, your current medications, and a clear picture of what you want cannabis to help with. The provider does the rest.
Step 2: The practitioner decides
New York does not use a fixed list of qualifying conditions. A certifying practitioner determines whether medical cannabis is clinically appropriate for your situation. Ask the provider what the evaluation involves and when a decision and any documentation may be available.
If the provider decides cannabis is not appropriate for you, that answer matters too. Leafology never gives medical advice, and no dispensary should.
Step 3: Use the certification
Your certification and registry credentials work at every OCM registered medical dispensary in New York for medical program products under the program's own rules. The Office of Cannabis Management lists current locations and program rules at cannabis.ny.gov.
A medical certification does not change the retail channel at Leafology. Ask staff about any current patient offer, its eligibility requirements and exclusions before ordering. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID proving you are 21 or older for adult-use shopping.
Renewals and staying current
Check the expiration date your provider issues, calendar a renewal ahead of it, and confirm current renewal rules on the OCM site at cannabis.ny.gov, since state requirements can change. Leafwell's platform is the natural place to start a renewal conversation with a licensed provider.
What conditions qualify for a medical cannabis card in New York?
New York no longer publishes a fixed list of qualifying conditions. A licensed certifying practitioner determines whether medical cannabis is appropriate for you during the consultation. Ask a certifying practitioner about an evaluation and current appointment availability. How long does certification take?
Appointment length, availability and certification timing depend on the provider and your evaluation. Check directly with Leafwell or your chosen certifying practitioner. Approval is a clinical decision and is not guaranteed. How much does the Leafology discount save me?
Ask staff about the current patient offer, eligibility, exclusions and whether it applies to your order. Check the final cart or receipt; do not assume offers combine or apply to every product.Does my certification change taxes at Leafology?
No. Every purchase at Leafology is an adult use purchase and carries New York adult use cannabis taxes. The medical program has its own rules for purchases made at registered medical dispensaries. Any applicable store offer does not convert the sale into a medical sale.Do I need to be 21 to use the Leafology patient discount?
Yes. Leafology is an adult use dispensary, so every shopper must be 21 or older with valid government issued photo ID, including certified patients using the discount. New York's medical program has its own rules for patients under 21; see cannabis.ny.gov.
