What does 7 grams of flower mean?

A 7g package contains seven grams of flower by labeled net weight. Retail menus commonly call this a quarter ounce. An eighth is commonly listed as 3.5g, a half ounce as 14g, and an ounce pack often as 28g. These retail shorthand weights are rounded: NIST lists one avoirdupois ounce as approximately 28.35g. Use the grams printed on the actual package when comparing products.

Read the net weight, not the package shape

A jar can look large because of empty space, protective packaging or the size and density of the flowers. Photographs do not measure weight. Check the net weight and whether a menu price describes one package or a bundle. Do not confuse grams of flower with milligrams of THC.

Compare price per gram

Divide the listed package price by its labeled grams. For illustration only, a hypothetical $42 package weighing 3.5g costs $12 per gram; a hypothetical $70 package weighing 7g costs $10 per gram. These are arithmetic examples, not Leafology prices. Compare actual checkout totals as well as the same producer, cultivar and batch where possible.

Check what is inside the format

Whole flower, small buds, shake and ground flower can share the same net weight while differing in composition and handling. Read the product description and ask which format is inside. A bigger package is not automatically better value for your preferences or storage needs.

Ask about the batch before choosing

Check producer, cultivar name, package date where shown, cannabinoid label and available certificate of analysis. Compare the batch identifier on the package with the report. A cultivar profile cannot substitute for a particular batch result.
